Porter Beer

Pub owners near the London docks were known many years back to serve local porters and other dockers a mix made of two or three brews. The resulting beverage was often brown, malty, slightly sweet, with a touch of burnt caramel flavour, and not too strong in alcohol. It was ideal and inexpensive to replenish one's energy without taking the time to have a full meal. It became the Porter's Beer. In remembrance of the era Brasseurs du Monde created the Big Ben Porter, moderately dry, with roasted and caramelized malts flavours plus a hint of crème brûlée. The English hops are bringing a very light bitterness to balance it all.
